Dr. Weiss’ Inspiration Story
The foundation of our practice stems from a lifelong partnership and a shared commitment to promoting healthy aging. Initially, my career path was focused on pediatric craniofacial surgery, and I never envisioned entering cosmetic surgery. I believed it lacked substance and was driven by fame rather than meaningful impact. However, life taught me otherwise.
While working as a craniofacial plastic surgeon at Eastern Virginia Medical School, I faced significant challenges in a competitive environment. Dr. Jim Carraway, a renowned cosmetic surgeon, encouraged me to explore cosmetic procedures. At my wife’s persuasive prompting, I spent a day observing his work and discovered the artistry and precision involved, like craniofacial surgery.
I’ll never forget that morning—the husband’s handshake was so fierce it nearly crushed my hand, his worry written all over his face. Months later, I watched the same man gently open the door for his wife, pull out her chair, and beam with pride as she walked in with renewed confidence. That transformation wasn’t just physical—it was a restoration of their relationship. My perspective shifted after witnessing the profound psychological impact on patients—restoring confidence and improving quality of life.
Nearly a decade later, my wife and I established a private plastic surgery practice with an integrated surgery center, emphasizing health, nutrition, and emotional well-being. Over time, I became deeply interested in hormone replacement therapy (HRT), particularly for women, as traditional medicine often overlooked its benefits.
My interest in hormone therapy deepened after a long-standing patient experienced rapid aging when her treatment was discontinued. I initially scheduled her for a facelift, but six months later, at her pre-op visit, I canceled the surgery. Her transformation was remarkable—she had resumed hormone therapy at my recommendation, traveling a great distance to do so. That moment reinforced the critical role of hormonal health. At my wife’s urging to “do it right or step aside,” I committed to advanced training and launched our own program during a time where virtually no practitioner in the area offered these services.
Motivated by these experiences, I pursued advanced training and launched an HRT program 15 years ago. Within our HRT program, what began with 25 patients has grown to over 500 patients, supported by multiple providers with special areas of expertise – Dr. Michael Lepore, Neale Ford, RN, Amy Mack, NP, Ali Francis, NP, Kourtney Jodlowski, RN and most recently we brought on Dr. Joe Grzeskiewicz, a like-minded plastic surgeon we have known for more than twenty-five years. Today, our practice combines surgical expertise with comprehensive wellness strategies, helping patients achieve confidence, vitality, and healthy aging.
